Each country has its own hotel categorization which may not align with the one in your home country. Our Agency guarantees that we carefully select the best hotels within each category for you. As a guide, please note that the superior category in Montenegro is 5-star or Boutique Special Hotel. Our Agency offers only quality services, which is why the minimum hotel category we work with is Boutique Hotel, equivalent to a 4-star standard.

Currency
The official currency is the Euro (€). Approximately 1 USD = 0.93 Euros (Not: Bu güncel, yaklaşık bir orandır). 1 Euro equals 100 Cent.

What is the best way to carry money?
The safest way to carry money is through traveller's checks, but there are sometimes problems changing them in some regions. For this reason, more and more people are bringing a combination of cash and credit cards. There are exchange offices everywhere where you can exchange US dollars for Euros. By looking for ATM offices, you can withdraw money using Maestro, Cirrus, Visa or Mastercard or any other card if its symbol appears on the ATM. When withdrawing money from ATMs with this system, the currency conversion is done according to official rates, which is sometimes cheaper. Credit cards can also be used for large purchases, but are generally not accepted in small restaurants, small shops, or supermarkets, local transport, or taxis, so we recommend carrying some cash as well.

What is the weather like?
Montenegro can be visited practically all year round, depending on the chosen itinerary. Spring may be the best time, due to mild temperatures and scarce rainfall. In summer, temperatures are higher, and the season is ideal for enjoying the Montenegrin coast and lakes, in addition to visiting historical sites in Montenegro, but it is also the most popular time to visit the country; both hotels and flights fill up quickly during this time, making it more difficult to book. In winter, the most popular destinations are the coastal cities and the ski resorts in the North. Snow is common in the mountainous regions during the winter months, but rain and cold are normal in the South. The climate in Montenegro depends on the area you are in. The Adriatic coast has hot summers but mild, rainy winters. The Central and Northern mountainous parts of the country have very warm and dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Generally, August is the hottest month of the year. In the Central and Northern regions, temperatures usually drop considerably at night. Winter runs from December to March; during this time, it may rain in coastal areas and snow inland.

Where is Montenegro located?
Montenegro is located in Southeastern Europe on the Adriatic Sea, bordered by Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, and Albania. Its beautiful coasts are bathed by the Adriatic Sea.

Is a visa required to travel to Montenegro? How to get it?
You can check the conditions for obtaining a visa depending on your nationality on the Montenegrin government's official tourism or foreign affairs website. We recommend that you verify with the Montenegrin Embassy or Consulate in your country that the information is up-to-date. Please note that if you need a visa, you must process it following the instructions on that website. Please note that passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of departure from Montenegro and beyond the expiry date of the visa requested, if required. It is the customer's responsibility to have all the required documentation to enter the country.

What are business hours?
The weekend in Montenegro is Saturday and Sunday, as in the rest of the Western countries. Almost all Official Government services and Banks are open between 8:30 and 17:00, and close on Sundays. Street shops usually have longer hours, from approximately 9:00 to 22:00 in tourist areas.

What time zone is Montenegro in?
It is currently CET (Central European Time) - GMT+1, which observes daylight saving time (CEST - GMT+2 in summer).

How can I stay in contact with my country from Montenegro?
The international telephone prefix for Montenegro is +382. The code for calls abroad is 00 followed by your country's prefix and the telephone number. Mobile phones work throughout the country 99.9% of the time, and there are internet cafes and ubiquitous Wi-Fi in most cities and hotels.

Will my hairdryer or razor work in Montenegro?
Electricity in Montenegro is 230 volts. If it does not work the same in your country, we suggest you bring an adapter that covers the range between 230V and 110V. In Montenegro, we use two-pin plugs (Type C and F), which are standard across most of continental Europe.

What should we keep in mind regarding Religious Sites?
Churches and Monasteries (Orthodox and Catholic, the main religions) are open to anyone who wants to enter. You must dress modestly; shoulders and knees should be covered for both men and women. Women may be asked to cover their heads in some Orthodox monasteries. Silence is required inside the sites as they are places of prayer and worship. Montenegro is a secular country that values respect between its various religious and ethnic communities.

What clothes should I pack?
For summer, we recommend light-colored clothing (t-shirts and shorts) for the coastal and lake areas, and do not forget sun protection and a hat. It is advisable to bring a sweater or jacket for the evenings, especially in the mountains. Comfortable footwear is essential for following many itineraries, especially in historical cities like Kotor or Budva. For winter travelers in the Northern mountainous areas, we recommend heavy winter clothing, as it is cold and snowy. On the coast in winter, a thick jacket is often sufficient.

Can I travel with children in Montenegro?
Traveling with children in Montenegro is very easy; Montenegrin people are very welcoming to children. People will welcome them in restaurants and tolerate normal behavior with a smile. You can find beaches, numerous parks, nature reserves (like Durmitor or Lake Skadar), and historical cities with plenty of space for exploration that will keep them busy.

Is Montenegro safe?
Montenegro is generally considered very safe and politically stable, comparable to most European countries. You will feel relaxed and secure during your tour. As in any popular tourist area, minor incidents like pickpocketing can occur in crowded places, but overall crime rates are low. You will notice the incredible mix of Mediterranean, Balkan, and European cultures.

Can women travel alone in Montenegro?
Of course, women can travel alone; they will not have any problems. You will find a relaxed and respectful culture. As in the rest of European countries, basic caution is advised at night, which is why we always carefully choose our hotels in the safest locations, even at night.
